10 Must Ask Questions before Selecting Your Honeymoon

Before you and your spouse decide on plans for your honeymoon, there are a few questions that you must ask yourself to guide the planning process of the honeymoon along. These questions will allow you to stay within your budget and aid the planning process so that you do not overlook anything that could be critical to the honeymoon. If you ask yourself these ten questions, you will be on your way to planning the perfect honeymoon that you and your significant other have always dreamed of for a long time.

1.    The first and maybe most important questions that you should ask yourself are: “What is our budget for the honeymoon?” When you answer this question, you must be honest with yourself and be sure that you have the funds for the honeymoon. You and your spouse do not want to spend money that you do not have and end up paying your honeymoon and wedding debts in your first few years of marriage. This will create unnecessary stress to your spouse.

2.    When planning the honeymoon, you must ask yourself “Are we going to book the honeymoon online or are we going to use a travel agent?” You must decide whether or not you are going to book your entire honeymoon online or seek advice from a travel agent. Whichever choice you decide should provide you with the honeymoon that you want while also sticking to the budget that you have decided upon when planning.

3.    The next question that you should think about is: “What type of honeymoon do we want?” Deciding on the type of honeymoon that you want can significantly aid in the answering of additional questions that should be answered during the planning process of your honeymoon. Once this question is answered, many of the following questions can be answered easily.

4.    “Will we both enjoy this honeymoon destination?” If you and your spouse cannot enjoy your honeymoon destination together, you will not have a pleasant experience when honeymooning. If your spouse loves the beach honeymoon for example, and you despise the beach, there could be tension between both of you and it could lead to a recipe for disaster in the honeymoon setting.

5.    “What time of year do we want our honeymoon?” Determining what time of year you would like to have your honeymoon can help you determine if the location is the right choice based on your budget. If you want a beach honeymoon, for example, you can choose a time of the year and a destination that is considered “off season”. Choosing a location that is beach themed, you will have many options to choose from when the weather is beautiful all year-round. Choosing this destination and time of year will allow you to save money when planning the honeymoon.

6.    If you and your spouse are thinking about going to another country, this question is very important: “How comfortable are you in a foreign country?” If you or your spouse is not too comfortable visiting a foreign country, this may not be the honeymoon destination for you. If either one of you are uncomfortable with the people, the customs of the locals or the language barrier, you or your spouse will not enjoy the time that you will be spending there. A honeymoon is meant for you to relax and if you are not relaxed because of the location you are in, you will not have a pleasant experience.

7.    When you are planning your honeymoon, and you have decided on your honeymoon destination, and the theme of your honeymoon, you must now ask yourself: “What type of accommodations are we looking to have throughout our honeymoon?” When you decide on whether you want a boutique hotel, a resort or a budget hotel, you can then begin to see if the establishment you are looking at has availability for the time in which you are looking to visit. Once you have your accommodations figured out, it will lead you to your next question.

8.    “What activities can we partake in when visiting this destination?” It is important that you and your spouse decide on different activities to experience when you are visiting your honeymoon destination. If you are going to a beach destination, for example, you may not want to spend an entire week on the beach without experiencing anything else that the location has to offer. By researching and discovering different activities that you and your spouse can experience, the honeymoon will be more exciting and full of long-lasting memories.

9.    “What supplies or clothing will we need when honeymooning?” This is an important question to ask yourself because if you pack nothing but summer attire, and your destination turns out to a little on the chilly side, you will most likely not enjoy your stay. You will either avoid going out, or you will need to purchase clothing from the local stores. Unplanned purchases will cause you to exceed your budget and throughout the rest of the honeymoon, you and your spouse will feel limited as to what you can spend; again causing unnecessary stress during the honeymoon.

10.    Another question that you should ask yourself is: “Do we like long flights? / is the time we are spending in our honeymoon destination worth the long flight?” These two questions go hand in hand. If you do not like long flights, you might want to choose a location that is close to you. If you do not like long flights, but you want to visit this destination, will you be spending an adequate amount of time in that location? If you are spending five days in a certain location and the flight to this location is scheduled for twenty hours, are you going to be enjoying your honeymoon destination? Or will you be on a flight longer than the amount of time you are enjoying the honeymoon?

These are all important questions that you must ask yourself when planning your honeymoon and if you can answer these questions accurately and mutually, you will find it easier to plan and book your honeymoon. If you are skeptical about any of the answers to your questions, you may want to consider choosing a different honeymoon destination.
