There are many different things to look out for and be wary of when traveling to a new country, especially during your honeymoon. When you and your spouse are getting ready to go on your honeymoon, you both may forget a few things, and you may not have done your research properly. Traveling to your Jamaica honeymoon is no different than traveling anywhere else. Here are a few things to think about while visiting and try to remember throughout your stay. These will help you if you want to enjoy the time that you have with your spouse.

    1. Know the Exchange Rate

It is important that you know the exchange rate when you are visiting Jamaica. Jamaica is a country where the value of the money rises and falls each day. Depending on the region that you will be visiting, the currency could be more or less than another area. In some places, $1 US dollar is worth $81 Jamaican dollars. The best rates when you exchange your money are not in the airports instead you can exchange your money at a bank or your hotel. The more you know about the exchange rate, the less likely you will lose money over a scam or a bad deal.

    1. Bring Small Bills with You When You Go Out

If you and your spouse are planning on bringing many big bills to avoid ATM fees, you might find yourself in a sticky situation. In Jamaica, small bills, especially US currency is hard to come by in the country. If you want to bring cash with you, bring along many $1 bills. They will come in handy when you and your spouse are paying for something, and you will not have to worry about overpaying too much.

    1. Be Wary of the Vendors

As you and your special someone begins to explore the country, you will quickly find that many vendors can be very persistent towards you. The hotels are good at limiting this interaction; however, if you decide to go out and see what Jamaica is like, you will soon be overwhelmed. Some of the encounters with these vendors could border harassment, and this can be very stress you are visiting to relax.

    1. 7-Mile Beach

May tourists and other honeymooners have found that there is one beach that is the very best beach to visit. 7-mile beach is on the third largest island in the Caribbean. Despite the name of the beach, it is not seven miles long. This beach will provide you with crystal clear, blue water, and the shallows extend quite a ways out. Along the shoreline of this beach, you will not find too much coral or seagrass, making this the perfect beach to go for long strolls with your significant other.

    1. Bring Bug Spray

When you are packing and getting ready for your vacation to Jamaica, do not forget to bring bug spray. If you do forget this item, buy some as soon as you arrive. Many mosquitoes and gnats will bite you wherever they want and all throughout the day. Be prepared to be eaten alive if you have not applied bug spray.
